Anita Anand has multidisciplinary expertise including a Masters in Education from Ohio University, Ohio, USA. She started her development career in Madhya Pradesh, India, and continued in Washington DC as a public policy analyst, with twin responsibilities at the UN headquarters in New York.

She began moving to the communications area in the early 1980s and went on to manage the only international news-feature service, the Women’s Feature Service, from Italy and then India. Over the years, Anand acquired extensive national, regional and international experience in development project design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and management, and as a fund-raiser.

She is involved in the analysis and formulation of policy, planning and advocacy, and has experience and knowledge of development issues in mainstream media. Being based in the USA and Europe, her experiences extend to most regions of the world, and across sectors. She has worked extensively with UN agencies, national governments, NGOs, and academic and research organisations.
